By making a planned gift to The Washington Animal Rescue League, you are extending your commitment to the animals of our community beyond your own lifetime. A bequest to the League will help ensure the future of our organization and the many services we provide to the neediest animals of the Washington Metropolitan area. If you would like to learn more about us and how your planned gift can help our organization, please call the Development Office at 202-726-2556 ext. 315 if you have any questions or would like to set up a private tour.
There are three types of bequest options:
Specific Bequest: A specific dollar amount, percentage or property is designated to the League.
Residual Bequest: Your estate pays all debts, taxes, expenses, and specific bequests named in your will first. The remaining amount will be transferred to the League.
Contingent Bequest: You may request that the League receive all or part of your estate only under specific circumstances. For example, you may name the League as a beneficiary of your estate in the event that there are no surviving family members.
To include the League in your will, the following language will be helpful to your lawyer:
I give, devise, and bequeath to The Washington Animal Rescue League (tax identification number 53-0162440) the sum of (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate or estate residue).

Nothing in the foregoing Planned Giving section of this Web site is offered as legal advice or should be taken that way. Rather, this section is designed to provide only the most general outline of potential options available to would-be planned givers. If you wish to make a planned gift, you should consult an attorney to evaluate your individual circumstances and to develop any needed will and/or estate plan.
