It takes all kinds of people to make the world a better place for our animal friends. Even if you don't have much time you can still contribute in your own unique way. Here is a list of ideas, both big and small, that you can use to help the homeless animals of our community. Please remember, even the little things can make a big difference!
  • On your birthday this year, give a gift to animals in need! In lieu of presents, ask your friends and family to donate to WARL in your honor. Read "Nora's Gift" to see what a difference one person can make!
  • Organize a blanket drive at your local church or school for the shelter animals.
  • Have a garage sale and donate the proceeds to WARL.
  • Be a hero. Report animal cruelty and neglect as well as injured or stray animals to your local authority.
  • Save your spare change in a jar and donate it to WARL at the end of each month.
  • Help spread the word about the importance of spaying and neutering. See our Spay / Neuter page for the important facts.
  • Consign old clothes to benefit WARL.
  • Donate blankets and towels to WARL for the animals to sleep on.
  • Write to your local, state and federal legislators to urge them to pass mandatory spay/neuter laws.
  • Have a bake sale and donate proceeds to WARL. See if your local dog bakery will donate dog biscuits to have on hand as treats at the sale.
  • Volunteer as a dog walker, cat socializer or adoptions counselor at WARL. Contact our volunteer coordinator for more details.
  • Help others understand that cats should be kept indoors at all times.
  • Don't let an animal suffer in a hot car during the summer months.
  • Teach children to treat all animals with compassion.
  • If you are a teacher, teach humane education in your classroom. Contact our humane educator for more details.
  • Post flyers in your community or workplace to highlight our animals who need a home. Contact our volunteer coordinator for details.
  • Participate in WARL adoption events on Saturdays.
  • Adopt a new companion from WARL.
  • Sponsor A Pet!
  • Donate a retired office computer, copier or fax machine to WARL.
  • Donate stock to WARL. Email development@warl.org for easy-to-follow instructions.
  • Name WARL in your will. See our Planned Giving section for more information.
  • Now is the time to keep your promise to quit smoking. Put the money saved from not buying cigarettes into a fund to help the homeless animals.
  • Walk a WARL dog on your lunch break.
  • If you have any ideas for creative ways to help, please submit them to development@warl.org.
